Go with the Flow

Hello, fellow Bay of Islands youth.  If you have nothing on the go tomorrow from 12-4:30pm, then why not drop down to our ‘Go with the Flow’ event?  It’s a day dedicated to stress reduction and management, not to mention fun as well!  We will be hosting talks about stress management, a zumba session, a little bit of art therapy, and giving away take-home stress reducers.  It’ll be a great way to spend your Saturday.  So why not drop down to our event at the Millbrook Mall in the Zumba space (lower level).
Hope to see you all there!

Hacky Sack Tournament Tomorrow Night

Hello fellow hacky-sackers, tomorrow night we’re going to determine who the best hacky sacker in Corner Brook is by having an ‘elimination’ tournament right here at CYN!  The tournament will commence at 7pm in the zumba space and go on for however long it needs to.  Just bring along clothes you can move in, and please, please, please, please, wear proper shoes that will not fly off your feet and break a light.
Hope to see you all there folks!

Update to the Southshore Schedule

Just an update on the schedule folks.  The Southshore Sports Night tonight, January 7, is cancelled due to the power issues on the island.  However, another Games Night at the York Harbour Hall will be added tomorrow night to compensate.
Thank you,
Ernest

The Southshore had a blast over the holidays with two big get-togethers.  First, they held a Christmas dance with 25 youth showing up.  They danced the night away and even set up the new Xbox 360 at one point.  Then, they held a New Year’s party where they played Just Dance and had a lunch.  It sure sounds like they all had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Summerside Community Hall Open Once Again!

I am pleased to inform everyone that the Summerside Community Hall is once again open after going through repairs.  So, why not drop over on December 20th and watch The Nightmare Before Christmas with everyone?

Hope to see you there,
Ernest

Attention students of Corner Brook Regional High, in case you haven’t noticed yet, CYN has been running a program at CBRH every Monday at lunchtime.  Half of the time we run a ‘chill zone’ in a classroom, where you are free to come in, eat lunch, listen to some relaxing tunes, and just simply hang out.  Moreover, in our ‘chill zone’ times, we typically host stress-reducing events that will hopefully benefit you in your everyday lives.  The other half of the time, we host recreational events in the gym.  Our first event was ball hockey on Nov 25th, and now on Dec 9th, we will be hosting a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) lesson.  ‘Chill zone’ times and recreational events fluctuate each Monday, so there will always be something different each week.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you all there!

Hello folks, the Office of Public Engagement has launched a new website for Newfoundland and Labrador’s youth - NLYouth.ca.  It directs youth to a variety of programs, services, and resources, and provides another way in which youth can share their views and ideas with the Provincial Government.  Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement the Honourable Charlene Johnson states that, “[t]his new website is a great resource for youth, and an opportunity for them to connect with community groups and with the Provincial Government. NLYouth.ca provides advice on careers, volunteering and other important information in one location, and is designed to help youth make informed choices and decisions. It is important to not only provide information, but to hear the opinions of and gather input from the future leaders of our province, who provide a unique perspective that helps support government policy and decision-making.”  Have fun exploring the website everyone!

Pizza Party!

Congratulations Corner Brook youth for collectively earning 500 CYN bucks.  And as most of you already know, for every 100 CYN bucks you guys collectively earn, there is a pizza party thrown in your honour, which is exactly what will be happening this Friday night at 7pm!  So, come hungry everyone, and I hope to see you all there.
